TMH shipped two refurbished trains to the Sofia Metro

Eight 81-717.4/714.4 metro cars, refurbished by TMH Mytishi Plant, were shipped to the customer in Bulgaria.

Signed in December 2018, the contract provides for an option to modernize 40 more vehicles of the same type in the coming years.

Four-car trains that consist of 81-717.4 714.4 vehicles service the first and the second lines of the Sofia Metro. The refurbished cars retain mechanical and pneumatic compatibility with 81-740/741 and 81-717/714, available in the customer’s fleet.

The overhaul extended the lifecycle of the vehicles by 15 years. Their coupling assemblies were renewed, wheel pairs received an anti-skid protection, potentially flammable trim materials were replaced by the ones compliant with modern safety standards, the interiors now have shockproof glass, smoke detectors, and temperature sensors. The tail cars feature zones for wheelchairs and baby strollers. The refurbishment will reduce the operational and maintenance costs of running the trains.

TMH Mytishi Plant cooperates with the metro operator in Sofia since its opening in 1998. Today, the entire metro fleet of the Bulgarian capital consists of the products made by the plant in Mytishy.
